About

Our 2026 Summer Program will begin accepting Applications on February 1st, 2026.

Kaiser Permanente Westside Medical Center (Hillsboro) and Sunnyside Medical Center (Clackamas) Volunteer Summer Program are an excellent fit for college students who are only available during the summer break to volunteer. Unfortunately, this summer we will be unable to offer our summer program to High School students. Our goal is to provide an opportunity to give you meaningful experiences in areas of the hospital, not all of which might be traditionally associated with being a healthcare volunteer but are valuable to the overall satisfaction and needs of our members and visitors.

Our summer program asks you to commit to a weekly and regularly scheduled four-hour shift. Fifty hours is required to successfully complete the summer program. Based on the length of time you will be on summer break; this may mean you need to pick up extra shifts in addition to your regularly scheduled shifts to fulfill this requirement.

You will be required to complete an application, numerous compliance trainings, be in a group interview, submit immunization information and labs for verification and if you are 18 years of age or older, complete a background check (requires a social security number).  You will also need to participate in an online onboarding session.  Your onboarding experience will take at least four weeks and should be completed before you end your school year.

We will need your last day of school, and the date you will be back in the Metro area.  We will also need to know the date you must end your volunteer experience before you return to school.

In this program you will get the opportunity to see how everything we do to support the members, patients and staff makes a difference and helps to provide a positive experience.

Applications for our summer programs will open on February 1, and will Close when our program is full.
